Jagan has over 28 years of well-rounded experience in the financial sector including fund raising, investing, lending, creating exits and working with entrepreneurs.

As Partner at Sabre, Jagan has been involved in fund raising from international LPs, identifying and evaluating new deals for investment, managing a part of the portfolio and providing leadership and guidance to the team.

Prior to joining Sabre in 2019, Jagan spent over 8 years with Ventureast – an early stage VC fund with focus on healthcare, cleantech and agri-business companies. He was involved in raising a $93M fund from a mix of Indian and International investors. Ventureast has a strong track record in investing in healthcare industry and this enabled Jagan to understand and evaluate the opportunities in the healthcare space. He identified and led investments in 3 healthcare companies which are expected to deliver ~5x return on investment. Including the above, Jagan managed 6 (out of 13) companies invested by the fund.

Jagan’s experience included mentoring the founders, advising on business plan, raising equity/debt financing and identifying and evaluating M&A opportunities. He also had extensive operational involvement in his investee companies in the areas of hiring talent, designing ESOP programs and tracking operational metrics. During his tenure with Ventureast, Jagan had completed 3 exits – one through M&A, and two being sale on public markets. At the overall fund level, Jagan was involved in determining the sectoral investment thesis, portfolio construct, fund drawal plan and other administrative and HR activities.

In his earlier career, Jagan was with ICICI Bank for 11 years in their project finance and corporate banking groups. This also gave him a deep understanding of financial markets, structuring various financial products and managing an independent profit center. After leaving ICICI Bank, Jagan was part of a cleantech start-up as CFO and raised both equity and debt finance. Together with the founder of the start-up, Jagan led the business in successfully implementing a manufacturing plant and exporting biodiesel to Europe and USA.

Jagan trained is a Mechanical Engineer from Osmania University and has an MBA from IIM, Lucknow.
